23andme Weight Loss Study - Week 5

Week 5

Even I, the most routine-loving person I know, become bored if I’m not challenged in some way. And it’s not the new challenges I’m eager to take on that represent my greatest opportunities for growth—often it’s the challenges I’m hesitant about.

Writing about this weight loss study has me hitting a wall this week.  I’m bored.  Bored and hungry.  Not exactly a good combo.  Writing 12 weeks in a row is starting to feel like…bleh.  Not a challenge in any way shape or form {writing}.  Just bleh.  Really, not much has changed, I’m nearing the half way point,  smack dab in the middle and at a loss for what to share.  In order to spare you from the drudgery of reading more of the same old, same old.  I might take a break next week or consolidate some of the weeks into one, and write something else next week.  Or I could take a week off.  I’m just not sure yet.  Lucky me, I’ve got options.

Week 5

So it got me thinking about my challenges and my actions as far as this week goes {diet wise}.

We don’t ever grow from staying the same. Moreover, growth requires that we take a new action, whether it’s adopting a new attitude or learning something new. Jumping feet first into new situations and treading water there alone, so to speak, often opens the gates to beneficial change.

My advice

When you are in a rut, don’t give up! Boredom might be leading you back towards your old habits, but fight back! What’s vital to overcoming this sense of apathy is to set goals. Even if it’s just a small one.  Goals should be specific, yet flexible. They should allow for some minor setbacks, and yet encourage you to keep moving forward.  So my goal for next week is to lose another 2 lbs, and not bore you with ho-hum particulars. 😉
