7 Reasons To Take A Brisk Walk

So tell me, what did you do with your extra hour?  I’m not sure where you live…but if you live in the US, we turned the clocks back an hour for DST. So what did you do? Did you catch up on some sleep? I did, and that’s not all… hold on to your hat…I took a brisk walk.  WOW…Wow, am I right?!  Yep, and I lived to tell about it too!

Real Talk:  If your walking…you’re not sitting. 😉

Okay, I admit this time of year is perfect walking weather.  It got me thinking. Walking is such great exercise! In my humble O, walking is overlooked, underrated and obvious. It should be a part of every workout. We should being doing a lot more of it.

Admittedly, many of my readers are avid runners.  Even so, I wont hesitate to say that running distance has its downsides.  And yes, it also has its pros over walking.  Pro’s and Con’s, either way I know my running besties will be able to relate.  Because a lot of the Pro’s {benefits} are the same. Not everyone is a seasoned marathoner, some people just want to get off the couch and get something started.  Gotta look out for all my peeps.

Brisk walking is a fabulous place for beginners to start because it requires nothing more than you, somewhere safe to walk and proper attire and footwear.  So if you’ve been dismissing taking a brisk walk in favor of a future exercise that’s more strenuous, behold 7 compelling reasons to get your walk on. From beating stress to improving your sex life (yea, for realz), walking is pretty darn awesome.

7 Reasons To Take A Brisk Walk

  1. It’s undeniably affordable.
  2. It’s a terrific way to clear your head from all the drama of the day {especially after the election results}. It will boost your creativity. Heck, I got the idea for this article on my walk!  I rarely get ideas sitting in front of the computer screen {just sayin}. Proof right there!
  3. Its super low impact on your joints. Taking a walk on most days of the week can actually ease hip and knee pain and improve other symptoms. It’s also good for the heart, brain, bones and every other part of the body.
  4. Walking is fantastic at reducing stress.  Like any other cardiovascular exercise, brisk walking boosts endorphins, which can reduce stress hormones.
  5. Brisk walking and other aerobic activities help your sex life for the same reason that they prevent heart attacks. They keep your blood vessels clear. Vigorous activities, such as running and brisk walking, also release endorphins and relax you, which can boost sexual performance.  Bingo!
  6. Getting off the couch and lacing up for a brisk walk is sexy and trans formative.  In my book, nothing is sexier than transformation from inactive to active.  Nothing.
  7. It’s a marvelous way to warm up, before a more strenuous workout.  It’s an awesome way to cool down after a workout.  Walk enough miles and its a workout all by itself!

So there you have it.  I would love to chat!

How often do you go for a brisk walk?
