AMRAPs [As Many Rounds As Possible]

Grab your timers.  I want to share a workout and format that I’ve been doing with some of my clients this week.  I’m not a crossfitter, but I do like a circuit style of training they use called AMRAPs. (Equipment Required: Kettlebell, Dumbbells, StabilityBall, Treadmill).  AMRAPs, Unbroken and The Leftovers.

Fat Torching AMRAP Workout

40 Minutes/4 Rounds

10 Kettlebell Swings

10 Pushups

10 Goblet Squats (dumbbell or kettlebell)

10 Dumbbell Lateral Raise & Front Raise

30 DeadBugs with Stability Ball

50 Second Plank

0.25 Mile Treadmill Brisk Walk (3.75 speed or higher)

Rest 1-2 minutes & Repeat

My version of AMRAPs consist of 5 functional movements done at 10 reps each + 1 Ab Exercise + 1 Core Exercise + Cardio for 1/4 mile (Target Heart Rate Pace: Fatburn), for 4 rounds and a 1-2 minute rest interval between rounds.

Note:  Add “While Maintaining Proper Form” …onto it. **AMRAPWMPFs**   Because 2 rounds (with proper form) in 40 minutes is more effective than 6 messy rounds. 😉  Capisce?  Make sense.

The approx 4 round/repeat workout should take approx 40 minutes, including rest intervals.  Any Questions?!  Try it and let me know what you think!

My summer read was:  Unbroken,  by Laura Hillenbrand.  A+++++

Inspiring!  I read it in 2 days flat!  I couldn’t put it down.  I highly recommend it. This book is a true story, which revolves around the life of American Olympic Athlete Louis “Louie” Zamperini (1917–2014)

Out of the frying pan, into the fire, holy crap, hang on for dear life…Louie’s life was 15x more compelling than Forrest Gump and at least 1007x more compelling than mine!

An unbelievable true story that is gripping, thrilling, heart wrenching and inspiring. Have you read it?   Did you love it too?


AMRAPs, Unbroken and The Leftovers


My dilemma.  I started watching a new HBO series [the LEFTOVERS] this summer. However, I’m not sure I can watch it anymore.  4 reasons why

1)  It’s weird as hell

2)  It’s unsettling

3)  The music paired with tense scenes borders on demented

4)  It’s scaring the living crap out of me

Trouble is…I want to continue to watch, because I can’t figure out what is happening to these people.   And you know…I love to try to figure these things out!

As I watch, I get ideas about where the plot could be going…but then I’m w-r-o-n-g (its frustrating & disorienting).  Okay, I also admit this show leaves me feeling uneasy and sorta lil’ heebie jeebies afterwards, and I’m not 100% sure why…maybe its the tension music or the topic?  Can anyone relate?  Anybody?
