Non stuff Things AutumnPTW.com

Originally, I set out to write an article on a few favorite things I love right now. I didn’t get very far, it seemed boring and I couldn’t think of how admiring jade earrings solves any problems. So I shifted my perspective, changed my gears and ended up with this instead.

Although I’m pretty sure I still haven’t solved any problems with this post…my Aha moment came when this quote came to mind “The most important things in life, are not things…” so why write about them, I thought?

It's the little things in life. Focus on what you appreciate Click To Tweet

I try to be upbeat.  Has anyone else read “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne?  I have, and basically she conveys that, what you focus on…you get. So if you focus on what you appreciate, you get more of what you appreciate.  What’s not to love about that?! Who doesn’t want more of that?  I know, I do!

So I created a list of some of my favorite non-stuff things {in no particular order}, all of which I appreciate.  Now I’m constantly noticing all the little things that make me happy!

My favorite non-stuff things

  • Hugs on Mothers day everyday
  • Visiting new places
  • An hour to write or walk outside
  • A great night of sleep
  • Spending time with people I love
  • Discovering new equipment at the gym
  • Hot cup of tea
  • Fresh air
  • New follows on social media
  • Morning quiet/alone time with hot coffee
  • Compliments when I look a mess
  • Cloud gazing
  • Hot shower after a workout
  • Blog comments that aren’t spam

It’s important that we have dreams, goals and stuff, but what’s even more important is what goes on in our minds. Trust the process and that good things can/will happen, focus on the good and then don’t be surprised when dreams start coming true.

It’s not to say that disappointments won’t happen to me, but why would I risk missing what could have been (or what God/life potentially has for me) because I was focused on the stuff instead of the truly important things.

I’m not a minimalist by any stretch of the imagination.  I have a home full of things to prove it.  Ok, that makes me sound like a hoarder…I’m not a hoarder either.  I do have things that have a hold on my heart. I’m thinking a favorite piece of art, family photos, things like that.  Remember last week, I mentioned I was considering buying a food dehydrator?  Ok, so I ordered one. Although it doesn’t have a hold on my heart…I feel grateful for receiving it.  Now, it’s my turn to give again.  Wow, this really does work!

So there you have it.

What is your favorite non-stuff thing?
