It came to me rather suddenly. What to write about this week. Quite honestly until it happened, I didn’t have a clue what I was going to post about. As fate would have it, I would have an experience worthy of an article. Inspiration struck today in a not-so proud way. Thus, I must share.
Those were the droids you were looking for
What started out as a normal workout transformed and ended entirely different. Maybe it was the vibe that day? Would’ve been my 1st clue: I felt good during my warm up. But my heart rate was higher than usual. Oh well, press on. Could’ve been my 2nd clue: I broke into a heavy sweat early on in the workout. Thirsty, I’m drinking water like nobodies business.
The mood in the gym was serious, hard-core gym rat day. Everyone pushing hard. No laughter, nobody doing anything stupid. Grinding out the reps. Mistake Numero Uno: Already drenched, I press on with my blue-collar workout.
Reaching for my water bottle I took my last swig. Should’ve been my clue #3: Dang, I need a refill already? That’s odd, I’m not done with my workout yet.

Back to my workout, I felt a wash of heat come over me and a green hazy feeling coming on. Then it hit…nausea. It occurs to me…Omg…Im going to be sick. Time to find a quiet place to cool down. The benches by the lockers are quiet place to sit and regroup. Tried that for like one minute. Nope, still sweating buckets and the green haze feeling is coming in waves now. Head for the stalls.

Please understand, I hate to vomit. I hate it O.o I go to great lengths to avoid it at all costs. Mind you, I haven’t been sick in a very long time and I fully intend on keeping it that way. The awful green haze, that part right before it happens, when your mouth fills with saliva, followed by that gut wrenching gag and full body thrust you do. I’ll stop the description process now, because you know…we’ve all been there at some point. I spare you the wretched details.
Stomach contents ejected. Done, I gather my things and head home. Never a dull moment, no break in my stride. In this order: I re-hydrated, showered, brushed my teeth, ate, took a nap and woke up and began writing this article.
Nausea How to Prevent it: Slow down there, super girl. Not every workout needs to be a killa. Slow and steady wins the race. Get a clue, don’t be oblivious to the signs. Pay attention to your body signals, I pushed too fast, hard and for too long. Always show up pre-hydrated and correctly fueled. It’s too late to hydrate after you start. No one was to blame but myself for getting sick. Not my proudest moment.
On a positive note: It goes to show you that you can find inspiration anywhere you look if you keep an open mind and have a willingness to share.
