The holidays have past and I have the urge to get organized. One of the things on my “get organized” list is my growing collection of recipes and cookbooks. As I stare at my storage tub of hodge podge printables and post it notes, it occurs to me. I need to locate an old recipe. My Nan’s Spinach salad with hot bacon dressing recipe.
Best decision ever. I put a big ol’ house burger on a salad! In my mind, nothing beats a house burger. Why? Because homemade is just awesome. There are hundreds of ways to make a burger, but this awesome recipe guarantees flavorful, juicy turkey burgers every time. Forget McDonald’s, skip the Wonder Bread and make a House Burger…Older joke. Seriously. But it checks out, click the link 🙂
If you’ve written off turkey burgers after biting into a sawdust-like patty, I dare you to give them another try. This is a great burger you can feel good about eating. I promise, you’ll be thanking me with every bite.
Making a burger with ground turkey is the first step for a healthier, lighter burger. In these burgers, I add fresh, flavorful ingredients to moisten and spice up lean ground turkey.
Voila, I give you Turkey Burgers with Spinach and Feta en Salade. Ooh la la, sounds so fancy. Fancy schmancy.
All you need to make these bad boys is fifteen minutes and five ingredients. Seriously! To maximize supreme feta cheesiness, you actually mix crumbled cheese right into the burger patty…along with spinach for ultimate juiciness to hush the thundering critics. Amen, hallelujah.
Autumn's House Burger with Spinach and Feta
1 lb lean ground turkey
3 oz feta cheese, crumbled
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp salt, pinch of pepper and paprika
1. Preheat grill to medium. Combine first four ingredients and salt and pepper to taste in a bowl. Lightly mix together by hand and form into 4 patties. Brush them with oil.
2. Grill burgers for 4 to 5 minutes per side or until cooked through. Serve burgers on top of your favorite green salad (or on buns); garnish with kosher pickle, if desired. @AutumnPTW
If you are spicy like me, you’ll top your burger with hot sauce just ’cause. I also like to add crisp red onion and honey mustard dressing. My mouth squirted a little, just writing that sentence. Just thought I’d share.
