This one is wicked simple, folks. How you start your day matters. Undoubtedly the most important point in your day is when you first wake up. Adding some basic moves into your morning routine can set you up for success the whole day.
Ok, so…it all started with my switch to black coffee a few weeks ago and now its snowballed into –you guessed it– exercise. This workout is light, quick and energizing. A quick workout is a great way to energize your morning and ease away any stress from the previous day or even just release the tension from a funky sleeping position.
You can choose to linger in bed, hitting snooze and dreading the alarm, or you can get outta bed and energize yourself with the introduction of my Wicked Simple 7-minute Workout. The choice is yours 😉
Wicked Simple Morning Workout (7 minutes)
It’s not about being in perfect shape, it’s about moving your body to jump-start your metabolism and activate your brain. I definitely commit time to formally working out, but I’ve noticed that inserting a mere five to seven minutes of exercise into my morning wake-up routine really helps my body with the movement it needs to feel energized until I get to the gym later.
Here are my 4 simple exercises to kick-start your ultra-productive day.
Not-So Optional Stretch (2 minutes)
Still coming in under 10 minutes…after the quick blast of physical movement — stretch! As we age, we are less flexible. I know you don’t have time for pulled muscles, your back going out or any of the other physical limitations that can often come with a stress-packed, fast-paced millennial lifestyle. Taking two minutes to stretch every day will greatly improve your flexibility of body and mind.
That’s it. After that you’ll be ready to hop in the shower and then attack your day. You’ll have the flexibility, mental acuity and physicality to have a leg up on your competition and the workday ahead.
So there you have it.
What obstacles keep you from doing a quick morning workout?
Is it harder to workout before your coffee or easier?
